En el siguiente trabajo se intentara dejar planteado algunos puntos tematicos referentes, a lo que entendemos como un nuevo actor social en la agricultura, el agricultor familiar de tipo empresarial. Cuando hablamos de nuevo, lo hacemos como producto de un proceso de modernizacion propulsado en America Latina durante la decada de los 60', la llamada Revolucion Verde. Fenomeno este, no nuevo en America del Norte y en la Europa pos-guerra, el impacto de la implementacion de este nuevo tipo tecnologico de produccion en la agropecuaria tuvo impactos directos en el sector campesino y en la conformacion de actores sociales nuevos, uno de ellos el farmer, productor familiar tipico y representante de esa nueva cultura productiva en los Estados Unidos. Ese proceso tambien tuvo sus impactos en la America Latina, en este caso en la region litoral de Uruguay-Departamento de Salto, region estrategica en el MERCOSUR, creemos que no es un modelo generalizable pero que si permite visualizar las tendencias de este fenomeno en el momento que se "desata" en un determinado contexto socio-cultural productivo."
